Carbon Fiber Composite Hydraulic Cylinders

Lightweight Design Meets Precision Control

ANT COMPOSITES develops carbon fiber composite hydraulic cylinders, CFRP cylinder barrels and lightweight composite piston rods for applications that demand lower weight, precise motion and reliable performance.

By combining engineered carbon fiber laminates with precision metal components, we can significantly reduce cylinder mass while maintaining the stiffness, dimensional stability and load capacity required by demanding hydraulic systems.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. Do you manufacture complete hydraulic cylinders?

We can support CFRP cylinder barrels, lightweight piston rods and complete customized composite hydraulic cylinder assemblies. The available scope is confirmed after reviewing the application and drawing.

    2. Can carbon fiber withstand hydraulic pressure?

Yes. Carbon fibers can be oriented around the barrel to resist internal pressure. The laminate thickness and winding angles must be calculated for the specified working pressure, peak pressure and fatigue life.

    3. Is a metal liner required?

Not always. Depending on the pressure, sealing system and application, the cylinder barrel can use a metal liner, thin functional liner or custom linerless structure.

A lined hybrid structure is generally the most practical option when a proven internal sealing and wear surface is required.

    4. Are composite hydraulic cylinders corrosion resistant?

CFRP does not rust. However, the complete cylinder also contains resin, seals and metal connections. These components must be selected and protected for the intended marine, chemical or outdoor environment.

    5. Can the cylinders be used in magnetic environments?

Carbon fiber composites are non-magnetic. Suitable metal components must also be selected if the complete cylinder will operate near strong magnetic fields.
